Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the retreat?

I will give you the exact address after you sign up. The house is in a beautiful area of Ireland and is a typical Irish home (think plenty of wood!) surrounded by gorgeous greenery. There's plenty of room for us to work and learn and I will be bringing down my two digital pianos.

How do I get there?

There is no public transport to the retreat house. You can rent a car at Dublin airport when you arrive if you wish – just be aware that we drive on the left here! Most cars are also manual (stick-shift) you'll need to specifically request automatic if that's what you're comfortable with.

If you're not up for the adventure of driving on the left, I can organise a group minivan from Dublin down to the house. You can just let me know you want that option and we'll sort it out after you book.

What if I want to bring my partner/spouse/friend?

We have a ticket option for a plus one. This will entitle your travel companion to stay with you (sharing your bed) and have breakfast with us each day. They can then explore the area or just chill and read while we do our piano-teacher thing!

How many teachers will be there?

We have a maximum of 10 teachers on the retreat. So a really nice, cosy group!

What else should I do in Ireland?

I do hope that if you're travelling from afar you can spend a bit of time exploring Ireland before or after the retreat! The typical route tourists take involves going to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher, the North to see the Giant's Causeway , and a few days in Dublin to see our museums. You find plenty of day trips and multi-day tours to visit these spots.

If you want recommendations that are a bit more off-the-beaten path, I'm happy to help with that! Renting a car to tour around yourself is probably easiest but you could definitely see a lot by train/bus, too.

Is my ticket refundable?

You can request a refund (less payment fees) up until February 28th. After that, I will not be able to fill your spot as another teacher would have to have time to prepare their travel arrangements.

Can I pay in dollars?

No, sorry. Since this is a local event we must charge in Euro. Your bank will determine the rate of exchange when you use your card.

What do I need to bring?

You may like to have your own iPad or laptop with you, although if you prefer old-fashioned notebooks, that's fine too. I'd recommend packing for all weather as Ireland is unpredictable: a light rain jacket and some layers for when you're chilly are always a good idea. Our climate is generally a bit damp so people tend to feel cold at higher temperatures than they would in other countries...but, hey, that's what gives us the 50 shades of green!
